The only business I was able to start with my whole heart was the one including freelance services. All Online.

Thus, making the big step on starting my own Freelance Website related to my own country where Freelance sites were not used at all. All this done for less than $180 investment.

Without taking too much of your precious time with my struggles, I will list now the points that I learned the hard way on making this dream of mine come true.

So, you want to start your own freelance business offering a JOB BIDDING Website – Freelance Website to the people? First:

  1. SET A CLEAR GOAL – spot the audience

What will be the services your people use most? Be careful not the ones they NEED most, but the ones they USE daily and keep wasting time on queues on institutions or even on a translators office. Will they purchase medical translation, hire a dog keeper for a day or web designer for a week? It is important to set those goals in the initial phase of the startup since they will be the key points the users come to your site, they will be the primary things user see when you start advertising your business.

  1. FIND A NAME THAT STANDS OUT – also the right DOMAIN for it

Finding the adequate name, thinking it all about a business operating 99% online. Huge! In parallel thinking goes also the domain availability, since we are aware that a startup has not much funds for investing on premium domain names, to not mention having to buy it from anonymous person who already owns that name you need so much. It takes much time and effort to find the owner, also mentioning the fact to convince him to sell it… Even though there are agencies and agents offering those services, but with not that much proven success. Than Boom… the price goes beyond $20 000! This happened to the DropBox owners, since their initial domain was getdropbox.com. So it is best to avoid such situations.

So it will take much thinking, brain storming, NOTES, combining words, searching, surfing… oh and do not ask friends and kin about it, they have no clue the business you are starting so do no rely on unprofessional thoughts. At the end of the day, your senses will guide you through this phase. I can be a little help here offering you a great domain discount if you purchase it on Hostmetro (here).

  1. Purchase the HOSTING Plan

Starting the business is risky and takes much to analyze. To be honest, I have always disliked using spicy expensive hosting plans! I have used hostmetro initially on starting the business it is stable, fast, premium and has a great bandwidth. You can try it is the cheapest (2.95/month for a lifetime), although other hosting companies offer drastic discounts, into the renewal you have no discount. But in Hostmetro you get the same price every time you renew. Also you have the free domain for a year!. Hoooooray!
When upgrading you can also consider Bluehost, I would mention their awesome support, and availability 24/7 even during weekends and holiday season.

  1. SSL Certificate

Securing your website with the proper SSL certificate is connected to the above point, since you will have to get a DEDICATED IP address for your domain. I say HAVE TO, because we talk here about starting a successful business so, when It will widespread fast, you will need to have things under control and avoid, such core upgrades. Of course the SSL is necessary since processing payments will be connected to every job the buyers post and into the every job the freelancers get. SSL certificates will help you also with SEO and Search Engine Rankings. SSL Certificates are also available into the hosting you use for purchase, or you can buy a separate one and configure it. For static sites you can also try FREE SSL from Symantec, SSL For Free, or Let’s Encrypt as a great free SSL certificate. They are limited when compared to the ones you purchase, but they also do the job and make your site a trusted HTTPS.

  1. Upload CSM files – Freelance Theme

Starting up on fresh and easy, you can use a bunch of freelance themes available, the ones I recommend are Project Theme at SiteMile (a wordpress one, great for Job Bidding). I’ve tried all of the opportunities using online resources, complex themes even weird CMS, this one is simple yet has all the the functionalities needed to start secure. Here a coupon for you with 20% discount if you purchase from my referral here. Another great one is the Freelance Engine theme sleek and modern.
Starting on custom coding, is also an option. If you are a Designer and a Developer yourself, you can get on cracking. Also if funds available, you can hire a company to do this for you. I would recommend on using a theme, because the functionalities are alike, and you have an unlimited opportunity to change its functionality, design and operation at any time in the future, thus meting the client needs.

  1. Prepare the CONTENT

Clear, fix, and sincere content is needed. Speak the language people understand be precise and clear on the descriptions. Using infographics also helps, use different headings and colors when appropriate and highlight the most important points. Do not hide the additional tax-es you charge and put everything into your disposal, people need your Website, it will finish jobs for them, and they will do it from home! They are aware of the advantages you offer them so YES – they are willing to pay you.

  1. Rely on a Secure Online Payment Option – Online Bank

Absolutely, the best experience I have for more than 7 years on working as a Freelancer, is the Online Payment System Payoneer (you can register here from my referral and get $25 dollars into your new account).  I’ve tried Local Bank Accounts, Abroad Bank Accounts, since I was reserved on trusting an Online Bank! Seriously Online! But when I though deeper:
– ‘Me my work is also all about Online Collaboration, thus always reliable and successful. Why not trust an online payment method!’ And Bang!!!
Here I came across Payoneer, it was way better than my Local Bank servieces! They overwhelmed me with fees, no opportunity to purchase online sometimes, no opportunity for a MasterCard and those conversion rates from Dollars and GBP that were so big to handle. At the other hand Payoneer has only a yearly modest fee of $25, and great service. I got a MasterCard, I can get the money I earn through any ATM at the world and I get an American Bank Account ID. So much great tips, I am telling you, I may sound impressed…  I admit I am, also very satisfied.
You can chose plenty of online payment options, there is also Skrill, a very reliable/nice Online System that offers almost every service needed for accepting and paying funds online. Free to chose.

8. Put everything together and check it for 5 days in a row

After you have finished the list of the things needed to be done, put everything together, and there you have the magic! The Freelance Website – Job Bidding Website R E A D Y.

Test it, buy and sell to ensure everything works fine.

After 5 days you can put it live.
